Sandra, I enjoy your blog a lot. It is a very interesting blog and I love the fish. I also did hunger. I remember looking at all the pictures in Japan about the tsunami. It was horrible. I remember older people didn't come out of their homes and as a result some died. It is good this culture has a strong oral history to pass down to their offspring all the misfortune in Japan. Maybe it will been hope for their future.
I have read all of Dave Pelzer's books that detail an autobiographical account of his alleged abuse as a child by his alcoholic mother. It remains me a lot of your story. www.davepelzer.com, Dave Pelzer. Retrieved from the web on 01/29/2012.
A very informative blog post. We are quick to forget after the news stops reporting on a diaster. Surviving with their lives is just the beginning of a long struggle ahead for the victims of diasters. It is good to hear that things are being done to off-set the stress of the children with play therapy.
Hunger is such a hard topic. Thank you for sharing your experience with us and being so transparent. I am glad that you mentioned Japan and the issue of hunger that is still plaguing the children as a result of the Tsunami. That was such a hard time for the country, but I can be honest and say that I did not think that this situation was still an issue. In hindsight of course this major disaster would still be an issue, but I really did not think about it. Thank you for bringing it to the light.
Hi Sandra, I like that you speak about hunger in your blog. You talked a little bit about how you suffered hunger as a child. I'm wondering if that means if you also experienced poverty? Can you share a little of your background as far as why you were hungry? Did your parents work, struggle a lot with bills, etc? What made you suffer through being hunger often? I'm sorry you had to endure that type of stressor as a child. That had to be hard. Do you think going through that as a child that it has affected you as an adult? If so: in what ways? Not being given food and not having the proper nutrition growing up could very well be why you didn't do well in school academically. Nutrition and what children eat is very important. It not only effects their growth and development but it effects the way they do academically and their behavior as well. Thank you for sharing your story!
